Christians, should we say happy holidays or merry Christmas to a Jew or a Muslim?
I'm Jewish, but a lot of my family is Christian. When a friend or stranger says Merry Christmas to me I don't mind at all. It's a nice thing to do! But when family who do not want me to follow the Jewish faith and wish me merry Christmas to encourage me to leave, I get angry. But that anger is not because of the merry Christmas wish itself, but because of certain family member's determination to use any means necessary outside of shunning to convert me the Christianity. The same goes for Easter. I'm usually pleasantly surprised when a gentile wishes me happy Hanukkah. Very thoughtful. But, Hanukkah falls anywhere from late Nov to late Dec, so you might be a month late. But the thought is still nice.
